Joseph C. Giacomo

	Joseph C. (Josie) Giacomo, Jr., age 83, of Pinckneyville, died Saturday, January 29, 2000 at 7:09 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
	Josie was born in Perry County on March 16, 1916, the son of Joseph and Pearl (Carter) Giacomo, Sr.  He married Marie Goldman on August 30, 1949 in Piggott, Ark. and she survives.  During his lifetime he served with the U.S. Army during World War II, was owner and operator of the former Giacomo Hardwood Lumber Company in Pinckneyville, prior to his retirement in 1981, was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, a member of the Brotherhood Torinese Club, enjoyed fishing, hunting-especially coon hunting, farming, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
	Survivors include his wife, Marie of Pinckneyville; a daughter, Geneva Cuccatti and her husband Robert of Pinckneyvillle; two brothers, John Giacomo and his wife Alice and Nelson Giacomo and his wife Harriett, all of Pinckneyville; three sisters, Wilma Wright, Dorene Lueker and Virginia Higgerson, all of Pinckneyville; two granddaughters, Staci Louis and her husband Larry of Pinckneyville and Rhonda Neuhaus and her husband Alan of Gorham and five great-grandchildren, Shaneillle, Kaylee and Brady Louis and Kayci and Ashley Neuhaus.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Grace Hubler and Zelma Miller.
	Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 1 at 11 a.m. in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Rob Mathis officiating.  Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
	Friends were able to call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home on Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 until 9:30 a.m. then at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.
	Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
	Graveside military rites were conducted by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504.
